Art Deco Jade Earrings c.1925
A wonderful pair of large Art Deco Jade button earrings.
These elegant earrings each have a large cabochon jade gemstone in a simple gold mount with a sprung gold hook fitting. The earrings have gold hinged loops to the reverse to keep the earrings secure when worn.
The jade is a beautiful soft mottled green in colour and well matched.
Jade was a popular choice for Art Deco jewellery following Cartier's extensive use of the stone in the early 1920's.
The gemstone is revered in Chinese society where Confucius praised jade as a symbol of righteousness and knowledge. In Chinese culture Jade is customarily thought to influence health and prosperity, and ward off negative energy.
