Edwardian Sapphire & Diamond Marquise Ring c.1910
A stylish Edwardian sapphire and diamond marquise ring.
This elegant ring has 3 beautifully matched blue sapphires set within a border of 12 old cut diamonds in a marquise (navette) shaped ring.
The gemstones are all finely spitch set in 18ct yellow gold and the ring has beautifully carved detailing to the shoulders typical of the jewellery of the early 20th Century.
The ring is very low set to the hand with a plain shank. It would make a great unique engagement ring as the design is perfect for everyday wear.
The marquise design is based on an oval shape with pointed ends. Resembling the hull of a ship - this design is also known as 'Navette' (meaning "little boat" in French). The marquise design can create the illusion of elongated hands.
