Edwardian Sapphire & Diamond Marquise Ring c.1910
A pretty Edwardian sapphire and diamond marquise ring.
This elegant ring has an oval blue sapphire to the centre within a border of 8 small diamonds in a marquise (navette) shaped design.
The gemstones are all finely set in platinum with a milgrain edge onto tapered shoulders typical of the jewellery of the early 20th Century.
The ring is very low set to the hand with a plain shank. It would make a great unique engagement ring as the design is perfect for everyday wear.
The marquise design is based on an oval shape with pointed ends. Resembling the hull of a ship - this design is also known as 'navette' (meaning "little boat" in French).
