Georgian Pearl, Emerald & Ruby locket back ring c.1810
A wonderful Georgian gemset ring.
The ring is large for the period and may have been worn originally over a glove as was the fashion in the Georgian era. It has an emerald and pearl design set within ornate carved scrolled shoulders with small ruby accents.
The shank is fully engraved to the sides as well as the base and there is an original locket behind the head of the ring, to keep a keepsake close to the wearer but hidden from view. Any sizing will affect the original engraving.
It is a fabulous example of Georgian jewellery.
This ring, in common with the vast majority of Georgian pieces is a dress ring and will not take 'heavy' wear being over 200 years old. Rings of this age and in this wonderful condition are increasingly hard to find.
