An unusual small glass silver mounted perfume bottle with an entwined snake.
 
The snake has cabochon garnet eyes and the lid of the bottle has a paste set thumbpiece.
 
The bottle opens with a hinge at the reverse revealing its original glass stopper.
 
The ouroboros, a circular depiction of a snake swallowing its own tail is a symbol of eternity. Snakes in jewellery and silver became popular after Queen Victoria was presented with a continuous snake ring as her engagement ring from Price Albert.
 
This set a trend to wear a snake as a symbol of love. Perfect for any dressing table or collectors cabinet.
 
The glass bottle and stopper are in excellent conditon with a minor dent to silver rim of bottle.
